Walk & Talk therapy on the Gold Coast

Trauma-informed counselling outdoors — side by side, at your pace

For some people, sitting face to face in a room can feel like a lot. The stillness. The eye contact. The sense of being looked at.

Walk & Talk therapy offers a different way in.

Moving side by side, outdoors, with space around you; something often shifts. The body begins to settle. Conversation flows more naturally. Things that felt hard to say indoors find their way out a little easier.

This isn't about exercise, or pushing through, or filling the time. We move at whatever pace feels right for you, including stopping whenever that feels better. The work is the same; the setting simply makes it more accessible for some people.

Who Walk & Talk works well for

Walk & Talk can be a good fit if:

  • You find sitting still difficult, or feel more at ease when you're moving

  • The formality of a clinical space feels activating rather than calming

  • You're drawn to nature as part of your healing

  • You want a gentler, more gradual way into the therapeutic process

  • You've tried more traditional therapy before and found it hard to open up

It's also worth saying: Walk & Talk isn't right for everyone, and that's okay. We can always start indoors and decide together as we go.

How it works

Your first session is always held indoors, this gives us a chance to get to know each other, talk about what you're hoping for, and make sure outdoor sessions feel like a good fit for you.

From there, we work together to find a location that suits you. The Gold Coast has beautiful options; coastal paths, quiet parks, bushland walks. I'll always follow your lead on what environment feels settling rather than overwhelming.

Sessions are weather-dependent, and we'll always have a plan for days when outdoors isn't possible.

What stays the same

Walk & Talk is still trauma-informed counselling; the same approach, the same care, the same pace. I'm still drawing on the same therapeutic frameworks (somatic work, IFS, nervous system support), and the same principles of safety and attunement guide every session. The outdoors is simply the container we use.

Confidentiality is maintained. We choose quieter routes and spaces, and you won't be asked to share anything in a setting that doesn't feel private enough.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be fit or sporty?

Not at all. We walk at whatever pace suits you — slow, with pauses, or barely moving at all. This isn't about fitness.

What happens if it rains?

We'll have a backup plan — either an indoor session or a covered outdoor space, depending on what works for you. I'll always confirm arrangements in advance.

Where do sessions take place?

We choose a location together that feels comfortable and relatively quiet. I work across the Gold Coast and will always follow your lead on what environment feels right.

Is it the same cost as a regular session?

Yes — Walk & Talk sessions are the same fee as in-person sessions. See the fees section for current pricing.
